Mrs. Jill Rogers
About Me -
Teaching has run in my family for generations. My grandfather, almost deaf, had scored the highest in his high school class. Therefore, the town insisted that he became the teacher of their one room schoolhouse. In the end, he absolutely loved it. Like my grandfather, my mother and I followed his footsteps. Growing up, I practiced how to teach in front of my bathroom mirror, dreaming of the day of having my own classroom.
I received my B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Literature/Language Arts and History from Trinity College in 1984. In that same year, I started teaching seventh grade Literature and Language Arts here at Oak Grove. I taught Jr. High for 4 years in that position. In 1988, I was asked to teach self-contained fifth grade and have been there ever since. In 1997, I received my Masters Degree in Gifted Education from Aurora University, taught by our Gifted Coordinator at the time, Dr. Mary Christiansen. She forever changed me, and the way I teach. Social Studies and Literature are my passions. They teach us things about ourselves and how to live with one another harmoniously. Aside from teaching, spending time with my family is my joy and living out my faith.
